Ramón Hidalgo

Born in Mexico City. He began his studies at the School of Artistic Initiation of the Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico from 1989 to 1992, during this period he made several collective exhibitions throughout the country next to the Variations group, in the same way he began his sculptural work carving wood from Master Fernando Gálvez’s workshop, also receives a scholarship for academic excellence from the Ministry of Public Education. In 1991, he made his first individual exhibition at the Lodge of the Valley of Mexico.

In 1992 he entered the School of Handicrafts of Mexico, the elaboration of iron sculptures begins under the tutelage of the sculptor Antonio Jiménez, considering this one of its most prolific stages. From 1993 to 1995 the Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico grants scholarship to academic excellence; In 1996, with his exhibition “Semiótico Metal” he received the title of Artisan and Metal Technician with an honorable mention.

In 1999 he made the individual exhibition “Onírico Hidalgo” at the Fosilarte Gallery in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he presented painting, sculpture and engraving.

From 1997 and until 2000, within the Continuing Education Program of the Academy of San Carlos (National School of Plastic Arts) of Mexico, I took the Workshops of: Wood Carving by the teacher Leticia Martínez, the Drawing workshop Academic and painting workshop of maestro Jaime Levi and the workshop Current Techniques of Engraving in Hueco taught by teacher Silvia Rodríguez.

Currently in the facilities of his studio, he continues to work in the fields of painting, sculpture and engraving, and exhibiting different spaces collectively.
