Marta Pérez

The work of Marta Pérez can be seen as a a series of fantastic and unforgetable trips to the origins. These trips mestizos, syncretistic, feminist, male chauvinist and truly surreal, they bring us closer to the magistral way to reflect our own faces.

Puerto Rico, in the the Caimito neighborhod, on the first of January 1934. She recieved her Bachelor in fine art at Notre Dame in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1955. The work of Marta Pérez can be seen as a a series of fantastic and unforgetable trips to the origins. These trips mestizos, syncretistic, feminist, male chauvinist and truly surreal, they bring us closer to the magistral way to reflect our own faces. Their compositions always celebratory, always surprising and original, controversial, earthly, sufferings, flights, communications.

For Marta Pérez, the most original and authentic painter of Puerto Rico, there is nothing more sure but everything is divine. Everything except the lies, the malice and the destruction of the miraculous big blue vessel that we call earth. Its eyes full of connected seeds and memories and dreams take refuge on the edge of their lips. More has to be seen.
