Félix Cordero

In the early 90’s he was living and working in Ecuador, where he also showed his work. Years later,

He has worked as a draftsman, toy designer, photographer, filmmaker, and a photo retoucher for the publicity industry. He performed as a television host in New York.

 

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the first-born of nine brothers. In 1949 he received a grant to study with the renowned artist Miguel Pou. In 1953 he moved to the United States to study art at the School of Visual Arts in New York and at the Academy of American Arts in Chicago, Illinois. In the early 70’s he returned to New York to study in the Student’s Art League. He has worked as a draftsman, toy designer, photographer, filmmaker, and a photo retoucher for the publicity industry. He performed as a television host in New York.

In the early 90’s he was living and working in Ecuador, where he also showed his work. Years later, he decided to return his birthplace. He established himself in San Juan, in 1994, to continue developing his pictorial works.

In 1984 he received the Artist of the Year award from the Institute of Puerto Rico in New York City. His biography appeared in the book “Portraits of the Puerto Rican Experience,” in 1984.
